Description

This module builds on practical skills gained in A-level chemistry or equivalent courses, and gives an introduction to the most important basic laboratory techniques required in inorganic, organic and physical chemistry. Through a series of laboratory assignments the following will be introduced: gravimetric, titrimetric, and calorimetric analysis; the use of infrared and ultraviolet/visible spectrophotometry; recrystallisation, distillation and thin layer chromatography; the use of molecular models; and basic computer aided data analysis
